Who is Jon Kabat Zinn?
Known today as one of the influential pioneers in the mind-body field, Jon Kabat Zinn is a respected teacher and author. After receiving his Ph.D. in molecular biology from MIT in 1971, Jon Kabat Zinn was determined to find an effective way to relieve pain, suffering, and most of all, stress. His dedication and research led to his developing the MBSR program in 1979 as part of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
MBSR has been proven to be effective in enhancing quality of life because it significantly reduces stress for a wide array of populations in various settings. Most of his research has focused on the effects of MBSR on the brain, the immune system, and on healthy emotional expression. His work has been indispensable in bringing mindfulness to all and has even been utilized in mainstream institutions such as schools and corporations.
