The Incredible Benefits of a Daily Turmeric Regimen

Yes, we've already written about the amazing properties of turmeric, but we just can't shut up about this wonderful spice! Aside from being an effective component of a healthy diet, turmeric has many preventative qualities to boot, protecting one's body and mind from toxins, cancers and other nasty ailments. Take a look at the different ways turmeric improves your health and, ultimately, your happiness when imbibed daily.

Amazingly, it has been discovered that curcumin increases the the brain's levels of a certain growth hormone called BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor), the deficiency of which is linked to cognitive disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer's. So, by increasing BDNF levels, turmeric helps prevent, delay and perhaps even reverse brain diseases and declined functioning.

More specifically, Curcumin has been found to prevent the formation of new free radicals, and neutralize free radicals that are already in the body. If that weren't enough, curcumin enhances the effect of antioxidants in the body, interferes with DNA changes that lead to cancer, and also prohibits the functioning of enzymes that are needed for cancer to spread. Is that not amazing?! Some people even think turmeric holds the natural cure to cancer. Perhaps time will tell.
