The Magic of Apple Cider Vinegar: A Cheat Sheet for Maximum Benefits

Our knowledge of apple cider vinegar dates all the way back to 3000 BCE with the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians. Later, Julius Caesar’s army drank it to stay healthy and ward off diseases.

In 400 BC, Greek physician Hippocrates treated patients' aliments with the cleansing and healing powers of apple cider vinegar. 

Natural Remedies

 Metabolic Disease Relief  

o  The acetic acid naturally found in vinegar improves glycemic responses to meal ingestion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels for people suffering from type II diabetes. Incredible, no?

Weight Loss

o   Ingesting 1- 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before mealtime is proven to increase satiety, making you feel fuller faster. Plus, apple cider vinegar is a calorie-free and fat-free food!

Digestive Relief

o  Enjoy less gas, bloating and constipation when you drink a mixture of apple cider vinegar with a cup or water or tea before a meal. 

Sore Throat Relief and Healing

o  Combine one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with one teaspoon of cayenne pepper and three teaspoons of clover honey in a glass of warm water.

o  Both apple cider vinegar and honey have antibacterial properties, and the capsaicin in hot cayenne pepper helps reduce pain.

Anti-Dandruff Elixir

·      Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water and spray onto your hair after you shampoo. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse. Repeat twice a week.


·      This helpful trick will allow you to maintain a youthful, vibrant glow.

o   Soak a washcloth in apple cider vinegar diluted in water and apply to your face.

o   The acidity will make your skin feel smoother, absorb excess oil and minimize fine lines. This works by restoring the pH levels to your skin while beta-carotene combats future skin damage.

o  Left on your skin overnight, this elixir will help reduce the appearance of pimples, age spots, or acne scars.

Sunburn Relief

o   To neutralize a sunburn, add a cup or two of apple cider vinegar to your bath and soak for 10 minutes.

o   If your burn is extra bad, you can follow up by massaging apple cider vinegar onto the affected area.

Natural Teeth Whitening

o   Rub apple cider vinegar onto tough tooth stains, then rinse. Do this in moderation, as too much of this could result in the unnecessary breakdown of tooth enamel.

o   For less intense whitening, create a mouthwash of one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar diluted with water.


Wellness Energy Drink

o   Mix 1-2 tsps. of apple cider vinegar with 8oz. of purified, distilled water and add, if desired, 1-2 tsps. of honey, 100% maple syrup, or 4 drops of stevia. Enjoy!

Salad dressing

o   Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar with olive oil, adding honey and spices for extra flavor if desired.


o   Try sprinkling some apple cider vinegar on air-popped popcorn. It is surprisingly delicious!

Produce Disinfectant

  • Keep dirt and pesticides at bay the green way! Simply mix 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 gallon of water and soak your produce in the mixture.

  • Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar with water and add 2-3 drops of your favorite essential oil, then spray away!


  Believe it or not, apple cider vinegar can be used to clean your pet's ears, relieve certain skin problems, and combat fleas and ticks.

   Eliminate various pet odors from your clothes by adding a few drops to the laundry load. 

Beyond its numerous applications, apple cider vinegar is an inexpensive product with a long shelf life. But be sure to buy organic, unfiltered and unprocessed vinegar to reap the most benefits!
