The government shut down was started a few weeks ago by President Trump after financing for his border wall was denied by Congress. In retaliation, President Trump has ordered that the shuts down, which means that government agencies aren't getting funding and employees in essential jobs are being ordered to work without pay. That means a lot of families out there are struggling to make ends meet as the shutdown continues into the foreseeable future. Some are relying on savings, so me are living on credit cards, some families have moved in with relatives and a few harried souls are moonlighting in other jobs.
Tiger Blaylock is selling his art online to help his family. "This government shutdown has been terrible, so I'm selling my art to try and help. This shut down has caused a lot of punishments to a lot of people. Wall or no wall, I want this shutdown to end."
The young artist, who is clearly a big fan of the video game Undertale, has been hard at work selling art online. His mother has said "it makes me feel sad that he thinks he needs to provide for us. He doesn't, but when families are put under anxieties the only silver lining is that it pushes your mind to the limit and creativity can be in that.
He has earned hundreds of dollars from his art and a UK card company has licensed his art to make small prints. A portion of his profits will go to the local food bank to help other families in need.
