Like most of us, Eleanor Harris has heard the stories of how an overabundance of human-made waste is poisoning the planets. Unlike most of us, Eleanor did something about it. With a few simple tweaks to her lifestyle, she'd improved the impact she had on the environment tremendously. Here are a few of her favorite tips.
Stop Buying Plastic Bottled Water and Start Using a Metal Water Bottle
I'm a big fan of this method. Humans go through tons of disposable plastic water bottles every day, but if you bring a metal water bottle then it will be a massive improvement on your carbon footprint. I have a large insulated bottle that lasts me all day.
Shampoo Bottles are Out, Shampoo Bars are In!
There are a lot of artisan soap crafters and they will be happy to sell you their products to keep your hair silky and shiny. Or, if you're bald like me, switch to bar soaps with natural sponges!
Glass Food Containers Beat Regular Plastic Any Day!
Most of the things that we get in stores can be purchased at comparable prices in glass variations (looking at you, milk). In addition, you can pick up mason jars to help can and store fresh foods. I have been making mason jar cup o'noodles and they're delicious and so inexpensive!
Bring Your Own Bags to the Grocery store!
I have several horror-themed cloth grocery bags that I take with me to the grocery store, and it's a fun way to bring my personality to these little errands. Start your own collection today!
