Watership Down is a timeless and often terrifying story of a group of rabbits expelled from their warren by bulldozers and struggle to find a new home while coming to terms with the savagery of the outside world. It started as a series of stories that author Richard Adams told his children before collecting them in a book and publishing them in 1972. It was immediately beloved for characters and the grim circumstances they endure.
A film was made in 1978 as an animated film that successfully traumatized a generation of children. It touches on themes of community, bureaucracy, terror, and the brutality of nature. Now Netflix is retelling the story using such big names as Nicholas Hoult, James MacAvoy, and John Boyega. You can watch the trailer below!
