A tradition began in Kansas City in 1979, when philanthropist Larry Stewart started handing out $100 bills to random people in need. Stewart's anonymity ended following his death in 2007, but a new anonymous Secret Santa has continued Stewart's annual outpouring of generosity.
In 2014, Secret Santa gave members of the Kansas City Police Department a mission to go out and distribute $1000 to people who seemed to be in need of it. What happened next was incredible. It's a wonderful reminder of the important cycle of giving and receiving.
So remember- even if it's as simple as sharing a warm smile with someone, no act of kindness is ever too small.
